The greatest step forward for any photographer, in moving from snaps to pictures that tell a story, is to "see" an image in one's mind and then to learn the creative processes possible in-camera to execute on that vision. As I go round camera clubs and judge pictures I am in awe of those enthusiasts who have made that journey, who then go on to produce breathtaking images, telling stories, expressing their own inner vision. Of course for many of us the tools now available electronically make some of that easier. But I have yet to see a poor concept, idea, scene, portrait or sporting picture, inadequately captured , made into a great image through post production. Improved - yes. But that's it. But I have seen many a great in-camera picture perfected.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
